Round 4 - 28th/29th November 2009
Weather
fails to dampen Bunyip spirits
Unfortunately
this week all games were washed out for the Bunyips. The wet
weather did little to dampen our players spirit and a good day was
had regardless, with the three teams from Saturday’s matches
returning to the clubrooms following the games being declared a
draw and enjoying our legendary ice cold Cascade Draught on tap,
an ample supply of saveloys and hot pies, and indulging in our
second favourite pastime, the card game of ‘Dili’. We even
taught our home game umpire how to play the game, and am sure it
will become the official wet weather game around the association.
Sean ‘Dad’ Dorsett reinforced his title of Dili King earned
over a decade ago by winning two of the four matches played, with
young gun Luke ‘Cheeks’ Bartulovic proving he is in more than
just the batting form of his life by taking out one match, and
Adam ‘Shifty’ Dentler also claiming one victory. It just goes
to show you don’t need fine sunny weather to get the competitive
streak going in a bunch of cricketers.
On
the Sunday, our second A grade match of the weekend was also
declared a draw due to the weather. Again Dili became the game for
the day and one or two visiting players from other clubs were
educated in the fine art.
Taking
one positive out of the weekend, at least it was our first four
point weekend for the A grade boys, almost as good as a win one or
two of the lads were heard to say.
