2010/11 Season to kick
off
With the
season just around the corner, coach Damian 'Dip' French has
arranged pre-season training sessions at the Kingborough Sports
Centre.
Session
times are:
Thursdays 6pm till 7.30pm from 26th August, and
Sundays
3pm till 4.30pm from 29th August.
Sessions
will run until outdoor training at the ground commences, expected to
be the week before daylight savings commences.
As many
will be aware, the clubrooms are currently undergoing renovations.
It is expected that the work will be completed in early September.
Members can look forward to some improvements and a fresh look to
the club this season.
Once the
clubrooms are available for use, current and prospective players
will be invited to attend a session to hear from the coach about how
we are going to approach the season ahead, with the aim of improving
on last season's performance being the key topic.
Then
there is the traditional AFL grand final day at the club, with the
big screen action, BBQ & refreshments, a kick of the footy during
the breaks, and reliving some of last season's glories to look
forward to before the season starts in earnest (I am sure a couple
of C graders will be there reliving the glory!)

Darris Fenton Memorial
Day (2007) Photos
Most
Longley supporters would know that 'The Fenton Stand' is named
after one our club greats, Darris Fenton. Please have a look at
some photos of the Darris Fenton memorial day in
the History section.
This day also saw the presentation of a lost cricket listing of
the A Grade “Premiers” Team, in which Darris was Captain.

Bunyips Dress Up Party
As usual the Bunyips have been having as much fun off the field
as they do on it of late. Our band night earlier in January was
a hit with the members and attracted a good crowd. The Wolfe
Bros lived up to their reputation as a great band and despite
the weather doing it’s best to interfere the night was a
success. The past weekend saw a new event on the social club -
the Bunyips Dress Up Party. With the only rule being that you
had to come as something starting with your first initial, there
was some highly creative, amusing and ‘interesting’ costumes on
display. The five finalists for Best Dressed were Dave ‘Drag
Queen’ Carless (or was it meant to be Diva Dave?), Heath
‘Haitian’ Direen, Damien ‘’Drug Dealer’ Smith, Brian
‘Bin Laden’ Womersley and Damien ‘Darth Vader’ French. The
final winner was decided by crowd applause and the Drag Queen was
declared the winner - with the best fake manboobs and hips ever
seen on a bloke, there was no contest (they were fake I am sure).
